1. Do I need a Partner?
NO! This class is built for solo practices. When you improve your own skills, partner dancing becomes much easier. Although you can always learn with a partner/ with a group of your dance buddies, it’s not necessary.
2. Is this only for Leaders? I’m a follower, can I take this course?
You can take this course, regardless of whether you are a leader or follower. All the lessons focus on YOUR own dancing. This course is designed specially for learning and practice, without a partner. The techniques and steps taught are utilized for both leaders and followers.
3. What level of dancer is this course designed for?
We have had dancers of different levels take the course, from absolute beginners to National Champions.
For Beginner Dancers, this is a GREAT place to start. You will develop a good solid Latin foundation with the right habits, from which you can build on for other dances and more advanced techniques.
For Intermediate Dancers, this will help you clarify what to do with each part of your body. With precision and targeted practice to help you develop and improve your technical skills.
For the Advanced Dancer, you know that artistry and excellence is in the details. So, working on your technique is a MUST. Just like ballet dancers doing their barre class every day, you can use the drills in this course as maintenance for your feet, legs, arms, hip actions and more! Besides, this course will offer new perspectives and insights to incorporate into your basic movements. Great for warmup and technical practices.
4. Is this technique course applicable to the other Latin Dances like Cha Cha?
Rumba is the foundational dance for all other International Latin dances. Although there are different figures and motions for other dances like the Cha Cha, much of the fundamentals and philosophies are shared. So, working on the rumba will definitely benefit your technique for the other dances.
5. Is this American style or International Style? If I do American style, can I still take this course?
This course focuses on International Style Rumba. The primary different between International and American style Rumba is the bent knee vs straight knee action as well as timing in the basics. You can still take the course as much of the hip actions, isolations that are taught in the course can definitely help. Where you may have questions, you can use the comments section to consult with Tytus directly.
6. What happens if I have questions about the lessons?
